World Book Day. - Denmark.
For world book day year 1 were given the challenge to investigate authors from Denmark. First of all we learnt all about Denmark; where it is, what the country looks like, what it is like to go to school in Denmark and what children eat in Denmark. We found out lots and lots!
We were a bit jealous that children in Denmark get to go to school in their own clothes but were sad that they had to leave school at 2 0'clock in the afternoon and not stay until 3:15 like us!
We began to read stories by a Danish author; Hans Christian Anderson. We found out that he wrote lots of our favourite stories; The little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling and the Princess and the pea. We loved reading the Ugly duckling and decided to act out the story.
On world book day we decided to become authors and illustrators. Everybody in year 1 made their very own book of the ugly duckling. We drew our favourite pictures from the story and wrote out the whole story all on our own. Our books are hanging up in the Main hall for everyone to read, please come and have a look!
