Year 2 Healthy Eating

Mrs Henaghan's class have been learning about keeping healthy and how we grow. We really enjoyed our work so far this term and learning about eating healthy meant lots of opportunities to try tasty foods!

We have investigated different fruits and vegetables to find out which one was our class favourite. We found out that we love the smell of lemons the best but apples are our favourite fruit to eat.

We have look at different vegetables and how they change when they are cooked. We tasted them raw and when they were cooked.

We have designed and created our own vegetable soup and fruit salad - all of the food was delicious!

Enjoy the photos of us carrying out our investigations and creating our soup and fruit salad - we certainly enjoyed trying all of the different food!

Year 2 visit to St Mary`s church, Heworth

We recently visited St Mary`s church. The vicar showed us around and told us lots of interesting information.
We looked at the beautiful robes that she wears for some services. They are called chasubles. She told us why there was an alter rail. We also looked at the lecturn, pulpit and fonts.

Mrs Agnes Peyridieu from our partner school in Bordeaux, France and Mrs Kineke Kuper from our partner school in The Netherlands visited our at the end of April. They stayed for a week each. They spent time in each class working with our pupils. The also told our pupils about school life in their country and read stories in their native tongue. It was a super experience for aour pupils and a great opportunity for us to continue to forge great links with other schools in Europe.

Miss Russell

"Miss Russell teaches year 1/2. She always wears her hair down. She wears boots and has rosy cheek. Miss Russell plays the piano and likes to hear people sing nicely in assembly. Miss Russell takes a group out to do some special writing. If we do it nicely she is very proud and gives us a sticker."
