Gateshead Dance Festival 2009

Calling all dancers!

The Friday Dance Club will be getting prepared for the annual Gateshead Dance Festval to be held at The Sage on 10th March.

This exciting festival will see many schools from across the region displaying dances in the theme of Around the World and Through the Ages.

We are asking our dancers to bring along any ideas they may wish to share with us to develop our routine and of course their enthusiasm for putting on a fabulous display!

So put on your dancing shoes and ... let's go dancing!

Football Team News

The football team have had a great start to the new year. We have played against Falla Park and Lingey House and played exceptionally well in both matches. The boys and girls really have given a great account of themselves and hopefully with more training and dedication we will progress even further this year. A great start everyone, well done and keep up the hard work! From Mr Connor.

Football team win again!!

The school football team played a match against Falla Park last Thursday and came out with a superb 2-1 victory with goals from Matthew Harding and Martin Summersett. The whole team played excellently, with some particular impressive performances from Mathhew Harding and Joe Currie - well done boys! Mr Connor and Miss Brand are proud of you all!

ALSO!!! We played a 5-a-side tournament last month and reached the semi-final, which has yet to take place - so we look forward to that!

Sport Relief Mile

On Sunday 16th March 2008 five children from The Drive's running club took part in the Sport Relief Mile at Saltwell Park Gateshead. Despite it being a freezing cold day, all of the children had a great time and managed to raise money for Sport Relief. The exact amount raised is not yet known - Watch this space!!
They also met Jonathan Edwards, the Olympic silver medallist in the triple jump, as well as a very tall cricketer.

Gateshead Cross Country races

Mr Gardener's running club recently took part in the Gateshead schols cross country races at Gateshead stadium. Although none of the club won, they all thoroughly enjoyed the event -even though the weather was terrible! There were a total of 88 runners in the boys event and 88 in the girls. The results were:

Girls
Anna Cummins 7th
Rebecca DeCristofaro 13th
Lauren Smith 22nd
Boys
Martin Summersett 42nd
Matthew Harding 43rd
Jamie Orton 75th

Mr Gardener was very proud of all the runners and is hoping to enter the team in other races in the near future.

Football Team success!

Mr Connor just wants to say well done to all the football players who took part in the John Hird Cup recently! They got to the semi-finals and were narrowly defeated on penalties by St John's! He is very proud of them all and they did extremely well! Well done to everyone!
